Data Connect - Seamless data export

Overview

Design a new feature for automated data warehouse integration.
Data Connect enables customers to sync behavioral, performance, and error data directly to their data warehouses without engineering work.

Context

Event: Paris Design Jam.
Organizer: TTC Labs
Topic: Privacy by Design & Data Protection
Format: Joint workshop based on design jam methodology

Role

Hands-on product design director.
I was responsible for the design vision and the crafting.
I worked on aligned outcomes and frequent feedback with a Product manager and a senior engineer to scope and to deliver.

Goal

Our current feature (Export API) was not scalable and usable for our clients and we needed to catch up
with competitors on the data export front. We also had to rely on Heap Connect without replicating it entirely.

Our main goal was to bring our clients’ CSQ data in their warehouse as fast as possible and to make exported CSQ data a key trigger for renewal.

Approach & process

With product design being at least two sprints early, we could proactively review design work
with both product management and engineering to prepare next iterations.

Product and user research pointed to a data persona and we explored opportunities linked to
further enhancements such as real-time or use of Agent to Agent.“Fast, practical, scalable" was put into motion from the start

Keep it straightforward and simple...

Fast, practical, scalable

One challenge for design was then to propose a usable and straight to the point journey.
I settled on a design guideline for this work: “Fast, practical, scalable".
We had to deliver a fast journey that remained self-serve and usable, while being able to enhance it in the near future with new capabilities (Filtering, AI…)

Trial motion and step-by-step connection flow

I needed to design for quick setup tasks to ease first time use and onboarding.
The start of the trial motion is easily accessible in the landing page template.
We offer a No-code setup (step-by-step form) to connect any warehouse to CSQ data.

Key Decisions

- Emphasizing speed and an simplified design for the first release, to allow swift user familiarization and immediate reach to foundational features.
- A form-oriented setup interface to replace the previous tedious manual export setup.
- Comprehensive refinements was left for successive iterations.

Exported data

Users can choose the granularity level of the exported data tables before any automated daily sync.
All tables in a category can be switched off at once.

Exported data + granularity

Progressive rollout & seamless implementation

Design assets were consistently explored and delivered ahead of development milestones.
As a consequence, I was able to enrich our design assets for future product iterations through exploration and feedback sharing sessions.
Engineering can already pick design-ready iterations anytime.

Filters to be engineered in Q4 2025

Results

→ User interface and experience capabilities required for both open-beta and production readiness
were completed ahead of the committed milestone.

→ 24 organizations transmitted synchronized datasets through Q2 2025; it confirms traction.

Success of open Beta Launch (Spring)

- 234 customers signed Terms & Conditions, with 24 actively syncing by mid-2025.
- Dior, Iberostar, Schneider Electric, Spotify and others for more than ACV $5M

Examples of key use cases

- Call center reduction analysis
- Automated Digital Experience Score reporting
- A/B testing prioritization automation
